New Animal Discovery Proves That The Earth Still Has More To Be Discovered

The Machaeropterus eckelberryi (of the Manakin species) was discovered in the hills of Southwestern Loreto and Northern San Martin, Peru as described in the issue of the journal Zootaxa.

The bird features bright yellow front feathers, and is almost identical to the subspecies Machaeropterus regulus aureopectus, found in the Venezuelan tepuis. However, their voices are completely different, as the Machaeropterus eckelberryi has a one-noted song rather than two-noted, in terms of vocalization.

Not only did this discovery contribute to a new specimen, it propelled Peru into creating a preservation sight surrounding that area.
