Recently, a study published this week in the Scientific Reports states that there is a massive rare-earth oxide deposit off the coast of Japan (Ogasawara Chain Islands), which can supply the world’s needs for centuries making it ‘semi-infinite.’

Rare Earth metals are critical, and are a must have in electronics ranging from smart phones to rechargeable batteries. Finding this amount of rare earth metals would be a game changer for Japan.

Off the coast, there is an estimated 16 million tons of rare-earth oxides. In it, contains enough yttrium for 780 years, europium for 620 years, terbium for 420 years and dysprosium for 730 years.

Quote from study “has the potential to supply these metals on a semi-infinite basis to the world.”
