Recently, a study published by Journal PeerJ, revealed that marine turtles use flippers to handle their prey in addition to locomotion.
Similar actions were seen in walruses and seals. However, it was never observed in marine turtles before.
An analysis by a team of Monterey Bay Aquarium researchers discovered behaviors ranging from holding jellyfish to ripping anemone loose.
This discovery gives insight into marine turtles having more complicated brains than previously thought, as well as the long evolution of ocean creatures.
