This week for Photo of the
Week, we would like to feature an incredible tracked shot of a nebula
taken by the skilled photographer Peter Pat. This lovely photo focuses
on the Rho Ophiuchi cloud complex, a dark nebula of gas and dust located
about 1 degree south of the star ρ Ophiuchi in the constellation
Ophiuchus. Being only 460 light years away, this is one of the closest
nebulae in proximity to Earth.
Furthermore, if you take a
closer look, you can see a faint 13th magnitude periodic comet (Comet
71p/Clark) underneath the yellow patch of gas in the form of a green
dot.
