“NASA Announces Discovery of Exoplanet Around Kepler-90″

A team of researches partnering with Google’s research team Google AI have discovered an eighth planet orbiting the Kepler-90 star system, a sun-like star system located 2,545 light-years from Earth.
The newly-discovered planet, Kepler-90i, is a rocky planet that is about 1.3 times the size of Earth. This planet, which has an orbit of 14.4 days, is quite hot, with surface temperatures believed to exceed 427 degrees Celsius (800 degrees Fahrenheit).
The discovery was made possible through Google AI, a computer trained to identify exoplanets in the data readings from NASA’s Kepler Space Telescope.
“The Kepler-90 system is like a mini version of our Solar System,” said Dr. Andrew Vanderburg, an astronomer at the University of Texas at Austin.
“You have small planets inside and big planets outside, but everything is scrunched in much closer.”
