This week for Photo of the Week, we
would like to feature an amazing deep-sky exposure of the Rosette
Nebula taken in bicolour narrowband. Captured by the talented
photographer Simon Waters from Melbourne, Australia, this amazing shot
is composed of 11 hours-worth of exposures, with each one consisting of
an exposure of 15 minutes. Unlike traditional deep-sky exposures,
narrowband filters allow for imaging of planetary nebulae and supernova
remnants during times when the moon is visible. This lets
astrophotographers to produce fantastic shots such as the one shown
above.
