This week for Photo of the Week, we
would like to feature a breath-taking photo of the Milky Way taken in
the french countryside. Taken by the talented photographer Jonathan
Laruelle at the Maurice Barres monument à la Colline de Sion (at Sion
Hill), a key feature of this photo is the strange stone structure
pointing up into the heavens (and that to some of you may resemble a
rocket ).
It is in fact an old lantern of the dead, a monument used to accompany
the dead into the beyond. Standing at 22 metres high, this ancient stone
structure is a perfect monument to past ancestors looking upwards
towards the heavens.
For more fantastic photos, be sure to check out Laruelle's Instagram @jonathan_laruelle at https://www.instagram.com/jonathan_laruelle/
